Destination Toronto, Ontario

Toronto, Ontario is the capital city of the Canadian Province.  It is the most populated city in all of Canada, as well as being the fourth most populated city in North America.  The town was formerly known as “York”.   The city’s skyline is full of high rise buildings and skyscrapers.  The town is located on a broad sloping plateau that’s full of deep ravines, rivers, and urban forest.

This large city is a metropolis for international business, finance, culture, and art making it one of the most recognized cosmopolitan and multicultural cities in the world.  They are well known for their motion picture production, theatre, and television production.  The town is the headquarters for national broadcast networks and media outlets.  Toronto is also home to the Toronto Stock Exchange and the five largest banks in Canada call it home for their headquarters. Perhaps, one of the best known, is the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere, called the CN Tower (Canadian National Railway).

The city has so many great attractions, like the St. Lawrence Market.  With 120 vendors, merchants,  and artisans, the Market is their life and it shows.  The Market has been around for about 208 years.  Whether it’s truly great food you’re looking for, or an authentic patchwork quilt, this is the place!  The Market is made up of 3 main buildings.  The South Market has 120 vendors who display and sell their goods such as baked goods, dairy, fish, meat, and vegetables.  The North Market is mostly known for its Saturday Farmer’s Market where local producers bring their seasonal produce to market.  In addition, there are more than 80 antique dealers displaying their goods.
The St. Lawrence Hall has mainly retail businesses on the ground level, and city offices on the second level.  The third level contains the Great Hall with ancillary rooms that are available for weddings and other special events.
