Horseshoe Falls sits on the international border of the two countries and it is also the most powerful waterfall with a tall vertical drop of 160 feet with the deepest part of the river located just below the falls. Directly across the Niagara River you will see Niagara Falls, New York which is the smaller of the American Falls.
The most frequented attractions you will want to visit on the Canadian side are located in close proximity to the area around the falls. Get to know Niagara Falls, Ontario
- The two main regions of this area of Canada is Southern Ontario or Laurentian, which is actually between the Great Lakes, and St. Lawrence, and the Northwest, Ottawa in the Ontario area.
- Ontario will be just a little warmer than the rest of the Provence because it is affected by the Great Lakes.
- Until the late nineteenth century, the Northwestern Ontario area was abandoned prior to the railroad stepped in and began transporting things like nickel, copper, platinum, zinc, silver, iron, lead, gold, cobalt. Numerous hydroelectric plants were created in the mining region as well.
- Southern Ontario is known for its booming agricultural and manufacturing industry. It leads the regions market in livestock and dairy industries. textiles, petrochemicals and Metallurgy.
- Located on the Canadian side of the region in Ontario, Canada you will find Horseshoe Falls. The name Horseshoe Falls comes from the fact there is a bend at the edge of the falls. The bend is approximately 2598 feet wide and 32 feet deep. It has an incredible water fall volume of 681,750 gallons per second. The Falls are a stunning height of 174 feet and the depth of the river is about 184 feet.
- Another tourist attraction close to the Falls is Fallsview in Niagara Falls, Ontario. There are numerous hotels located in the city and there are attractions like the Skylon tower and the Minolta tower, located close by.
